Job summary

Sportsbet is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join the Enterprise Technology team in Melbourne. You will shape and scale our cloud platform, drive automation, governance and cost optimisation, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable cloud solutions that accelerate innovation.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor others, contribute to cloud strategy, and advance our cloud maturity through modern engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of cloud engineering experience in AWS.
• Strong Python development and automation skills.
• Experience designing scalable, secure cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP).
• Experience in Agile environments.

About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Enterprise Technology team and play a key role in shaping and scaling Sportsbet's cloud platform capabilities. Working within a centralised team of cloud specialists, you'll provide technical leadership across cloud architecture, automation, governance and cost optimisation initiatives. You'll partner with teams across Technology to deliver secure, scalable and high-performing cloud solutions that enable innovation across the business while helping advance our cloud maturity through modern engineering practices and reusable solutions. Responsibilities Include:

• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud solutions across the enterprise.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Development, Cyber Security and Technology teams to deliver cloud platform initiatives.
• Drive automation across cloud and security environments, promoting self-service capabilities and operational excellence.
• Provide technical leadership, guidance and best practice support to development teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to cloud strategy, governance and continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring others and sharing knowledge across the organisation.

What You Will Bring

• Strong experience developing software and automation solutions using Python or similar programming languages.
• Deep hands‑on experience designing, building and supporting cloud solutions within AWS environments.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts and core Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS and HTTP.
• Experience working within Agile environments, applying modern engineering and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and technical documentation skills, supported by relevant IT qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
