Job summary

Sportsbet is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join our Melbourne team. You will build automated security capabilities across vulnerability management, detection engineering, incident response, IAM and network security, while partnering with Tech and Product teams to embed security from design through deployment.

This role is hands-on, with strong emphasis on scalable cloud solutions, security tooling, and mentoring others to uplift the broader security capability across Sportsbet.

Qualifications

• Hands-on AWS experience designing and deploying secure cloud solutions.
• Strong Python development with OO programming.
• Experience in vulnerability management, incident response, IAM and network security.
• Ability to document and communicate technical concepts.

About The Role

As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, you’ll join a small, centralised team of AWS security specialists focused on making Sportsbet more secure. This is an engineering role at its core, where you’ll build automated security capabilities across vulnerability management, detection engineering, incident response, identity and access management, and network security. You’ll also be a trusted adviser to development and security teams, helping embed security from design through to deployment while shaping the future direction of cloud security.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design, build and automate scalable cloud security solutions across Sportsbet’s AWS environment.
• Partner with Cloud, CyberSec and Development teams to guide security decisions, address risks and remediate known weaknesses.
• Develop self-service capabilities that enable teams to implement security consistently and at scale.
• Provide technical guidance on security principles, secure engineering practices, and cloud architecture.
• Mentor others, share knowledge and help uplift cloud security capability across the broader technology community.

About You

You’re a hands‑on engineer with a strong security mindset and a genuine passion for building secure cloud environments. Curious and collaborative, you challenge the status quo, communicate confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and enjoy turning complex security challenges into practical solutions. You’re comfortable working autonomously, committed to continuous learning and keen to share your expertise with others.

What you will bring:

• Deep, hands‑on AWS experience with the ability to design and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions across multiple AWS accounts using a variety of AWS services.
• Strong Python development skills and experience writing readable, testable code using object‑oriented programming principles.
• Demonstrated experience working in cloud security, including areas such as vulnerability management, incident response, detection engineering, IAM and network security.
• Knowledge of core networking fundamentals and how they can be applied to achieve security outcomes in a cloud environment.
• Deep AWS skills with proven software development experience, supported by strong technical documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
