Job summary

Hunter Eye Surgeons seeks an experienced Senior clinic Assistant / Senior ophthalmic Technician to join our specialist team. The role requires at least three years of ophthalmology experience, with confidence in screening, diagnostics, and clinical procedures.

Travel between clinic locations is expected. The successful candidate will perform screening, FFA, venepuncture, and operate OCT, MAIA, Clarus, and tonometer systems, while maintaining records and upholding infection control and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum three years' ophthalmology experience.
• Venepuncture and cannulation training mandatory.
• Competency in FFA and subjective refraction.
• Experience operating advanced ophthalmic diagnostic equipment.
• Relevant Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Health/Medical Technology, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient screening, medical history taking, and subjective refraction.
• Perform Fluorescein Fundus Angiography (FFA) and venepuncture.
• Operate specialised ophthalmic equipment, including OCT, visual field analyser, IOL Master, MAIA microperimetry, Clarus imaging system, and tonometer.
• Assist with intravitreal injections and minor ophthalmic procedures.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold infection control and patient safety standards.
• Manage patient flow and travel between clinic locations.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years' ophthalmology experience and be confident in patient screening, advanced diagnostic testing, and clinical procedures.

Key responsibilities

Conduct patient screening, medical history taking, and subjective refraction.

Perform Fluorescein Fundus Angiography (FFA) and venepuncture.

Operate specialised ophthalmic equipment, including OCT, visual field analyser, IOL Master, MAIA microperimetry, Clarus imaging system, and tonometer.

Assist with intravitreal injections and minor ophthalmic procedures.

About you

Minimum three years' experience working in an ophthalmology clinic.

Successful completion of venepuncture and cannulation training is mandatory.

Relevant Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Health, Medical Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
