Job description

18 York Street, Sydney, NSW, 2000, AUSTRALIA

Odd Culture Group is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Senior Chef to join our kitchen team and play a key role across our venues.

We're an independent, pokie-free hospitality group behind venues including The Old Fitz, Bar Bruno, Razz Room, Bistro Grenier, Pleasure Club and more — each with its own personality, food offering and style of hospitality.

This is a great opportunity for a confident senior chef who wants more responsibility, enjoys working with people and wants to be part of a group where there's room to grow.

The Role

We're looking for a hands-on Senior Chef who can lead from the front, support the Head Chef and take ownership of the kitchen when required.

You’ll be involved in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, from service and prep through to team development, ordering, stock control and maintaining high food and operational standards.

You’ll be someone the team can rely on — calm under pressure, organised, commercially aware and genuinely passionate about good food and good hospitality.

What you’ll do

Lead and support the kitchen team through preparation and service.

Take responsibility for kitchen operations when the Head Chef is off the floor.

Ensure food is consistently high quality, well presented and delivered to the required standard.

Support menu development, specials and seasonal changes.

Assist with ordering, stock management, wastage and kitchen cost control.

Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and kitchen organisation.

Train, mentor and develop junior chefs and kitchen team members.

Help create a positive, respectful and high-performing kitchen culture.

Work closely with the Head Chef and venue management team to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Identify opportunities to improve systems, consistency and efficiency.

Step into different kitchens across the group when required and support the wider team.

Bring energy, ideas and a genuine passion for hospitality.

We're looking for someone who

Has solid experience as a Senior Chef, Sous Chef or experienced CDP ready for the next step.

Has experience in quality restaurants, bistros, pubs or busy hospitality kitchens.

Is confident running a section and leading a team during service.

Has strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations and food safety.

Is organised and commercially minded, with an understanding of stock, ordering and wastage.

Can communicate clearly and lead by example.

Stays calm and solutions-focused when service gets busy.

Takes pride in consistency, quality and presentation.

Wants to develop people as well as their own career.

Is flexible and comfortable working across different venues and styles of food.

Brings a positive attitude and contributes to a strong kitchen culture.

Why Odd Culture Group?

We're independent, creative and genuinely passionate about good food, good drinks, great venues and the people who make them happen.

With a growing collection of venues across Sydney, there are opportunities to learn, move between concepts and take the next step in your career.

You’ll be joining a group where good people are given responsibility, supported to develop and encouraged to make their mark.

If you're an experienced chef looking for a senior role with more responsibility, variety and room to grow, we'd love to hear from you.
