Job summary

Aurecon Group is seeking a Senior CFD Engineer to join its Sustainability and Building Performance team across Australia, with potential NZ involvement. You will combine advanced CFD modelling with consulting judgement to deliver practical design guidance for data centres and building projects.

You will lead CFD studies, engage with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers, shaping CFD capability across the business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong CFD experience and ability to work independently on complex modelling tasks.
• Hands-on ANSYS CFD experience (CFX/Fluent).
• Experience applying CFD to building services, ventilation or related engineering context.
• Proven track record delivering projects using CFD for decision support, not just modelling.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver CFD studies from problem definition through interpretation, reporting and client advice.
• Model setup and analysis using ANSYS CFX/Fluent to assess airflow, thermal performance and related challenges.
• Contribute to data centre, building, Defence and other building-performance projects across Australia (and NZ).
• Define CFD approach with clients and project teams; translate analysis into practical design recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations communicating methodology, limitations, findings and recommendations.
• Manage CFD scopes, priorities and deliverables while maintaining quality and meeting commitments.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders; support projects through design development and delivery.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to a growing CFD community.
