Job summary

Aurecon is seeking a Senior CFD Engineer to deliver advanced CFD studies for building performance and data centre projects across Australia and NZ. The role emphasizes consulting insight, client interaction and high-quality technical outputs.

You will lead modelling efforts, mentor junior engineers and help grow Aurecon's national CFD capability while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and projects.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or another closely related discipline.
• Strong Computational Fluid Dynamics experience and the ability to work independently on complex modelling assignments.
• Hands-on experience using ANSYS CFD software, with capability in ANSYS CFX and/or ANSYS Fluent.
• Experience applying CFD within building services, building performance, ventilation or a related engineering context.
• A track record of delivering projects and using CFD as a problem-solving and decision-support tool, not just model production.
• Strong consulting, communication and stakeholder-management skills, including confidence leading technical discussions with clients.
• The ability to interpret modelling results, identify limitations and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
• Experience managing technical work, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and balancing quality, programme and commercial requirements.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to mentor and support developing engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver CFD studies from problem definition to interpretation and reporting.
• Use ANSYS CFX and/or ANSYS Fluent to study airflow and thermal performance.
• Contribute to data centre, buildings and infrastructure projects across Australia and NZ.
• Define the right CFD approach with clients and project teams.
• Prepare clear technical reports and client-focused recommendations.
• Manage CFD scopes, priorities and deliverables with quality and schedule.
• Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and share CFD knowledge.
• Strengthen CFD methods and quality processes across the business.
