Job summary

Fortescue Metals Group in Perth is seeking a Category Management Senior Specialist on a 12 month fixed term contract. You will provide senior procurement advice and leadership for the Mining Services category, helping stakeholders plan, source, and manage contracts to meet business objectives.

The role supports category strategy development and implementation of strategic procurement activities across mobile equipment. Strong governance, negotiation, and supplier management skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Contract management – developing and applying processes, procedures, systems, and knowledge to ensure optimum commercial benefit and minimal commercial risk.
• Supplier relationship management - lead and deliver value through effective management of key supplier relationships.
• Category management and strategic sourcing – lead the development of category strategies that are aligned with Fortescue business objectives and manage and lead the end-to-end sourcing process.
• Negotiation – lead and apply an effective negotiation process and an understanding of each party’s position to engage with suppliers on high risk and/or high value contracts.
• Critical thinking: apply critical thinking to the sourcing strategies and timelines that you support and influence sourcing and procurement planning to drive project improvement including to time, cost, quality, consistency, efficiency and clarity.
• Governance and risk management - ensure business objectives are met through effective governance, compliance management and the identification, assessment, and treatment of risk.
• Analysis & reporting - effective analysis and reporting of relevant data at all stages of the procurement lifecycle as it relates to mobile equipment.
• Partnering - create and maintain credible and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure full alignment of procurement effort with business needs and opportunities.
