Job summary

AECOM in Brisbane is seeking an accomplished highways design professional to join our team focused on major transport projects. You will lead design delivery, produce CAD drawings, and mentor junior engineers within a nationally connected technical network.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering Associate Degree (or equivalent).
• 7+ years’ highways design experience (TP/Local Government/Equivalent).
• Experience in transport infrastructure design including road geometry, signage, PUP and barriers.
• Proficient CAD drawings and design documentation for project delivery.
• Experience with RPDM, Austroads or equivalent standards.
• Exposure to MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks or Revizto.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and coordinating design inputs.
• Strong understanding of design standards, quality and delivery timeframes.

Job Description

Our Brisbane highways team is in a strong position, delivering major transport projects locally while continuing to secure new work nationally. There’s real momentum, a healthy forward pipeline and the support of a broader ANZ technical network so you’ll have consistent project exposure and the backing to do your best work.

How you’ll make a difference

• Deliver highways design across transport infrastructure projects, including civil arrangements, geometric design (road, cycleway, footpath), signage, PUP and safety barriers
• Produce high-quality drawings and models using in line with RPDM, Austroads and client standards
• Provide technical guidance and support to design team members, including mentoring and training on digital design tools and workflows
• Work under limited supervision to manage your own deliverables while contributing to broader project outcomes
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, supporting the integration and federation of design inputs across projects
• Contribute to design documentation and ensure outputs meet project specifications, quality standards and delivery timelines
• Support the use of BIM and digital engineering tools to enhance design coordination and project delivery

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

• Civil Engineering Associate Degree (or equivalent)
• 7+ years’ experience in highways design within TMR, local government or comparable interstate/international environments
• Strong experience delivering transport infrastructure design, including civil arrangements, geometric design (road, cycleway, footpath), signage, PUP and safety barriers
• Proven capability using for highways design in line with RPDM, Austroads or equivalent standards
• Experience producing high-quality CAD drawings and design documentation for project deliveryExposure to tools such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, Navisworks or Revizto (desirable)
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating design inputs
• Strong understanding of design standards, quality requirements and project delivery timeframes
