Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior highways engineering leader to drive delivery across Queensland with hybrid work options from Fortitude Valley, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast offices. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers and strengthen client relationships with TMR and local authorities.

The role offers growth, a strong project pipeline, and access to national and global expertise within a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Extensive civil engineering experience focused on highways/road design.
• Strong track record delivering projects for TMR or local government.
• Demonstrated consultancy leadership and stakeholder engagement.
• RPEQ certification is essential.
• Ability to mentor, manage stakeholders and drive outcomes.
• Commercial mindset with experience supporting or leading work winning.

Job Description

This role can be based at our Fortitude Valley, Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast offices on a hybrid model. Our highways team is in a really strong position, delivering a diverse mix of projects across state and local government clients, including TMR, while continuing to secure new work through sustained infrastructure investment. There’s genuine momentum here a busy team, a healthy forward pipeline and the backing of AECOM’s broader ANZ network.

How you’ll make a difference

• Lead the delivery of complex highways and road infrastructure projects across Queensland
• Provide technical oversight and direction across multidisciplinary design teams
• Build and strengthen relationships with key clients, including TMR and local authorities
• Support work winning activities, including proposals and strategic pursuits
• Mentor and develop engineers across the Brisbane team
• Contribute to the growth and capability of the highways business

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

• Extensive experience in civil engineering, with a focus on highways/road design
• Strong background delivering projects for TMR and/or local government clients
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a consultancy environment
• RPEQ – essential
• Proven ability to mentor, manage stakeholders, and drive project outcomes
• A commercial mindset with experience supporting or leading work winning
