Job summary

BMD is seeking a Senior Project Engineer (Buildings) for a major infrastructure project in Darwin. This FIFO role is open to candidates nationwide, reporting to the Project Manager and responsible for delivering a significant buildings package from start to finish.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in large-scale building projects across commercial, industrial or defence sectors, with strong leadership, contract administration and cost control capabilities. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering building projects.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing large subcontractor packages from start to finish.
• Solid understanding of contract administration and cost control.
• Experience in industrial, defence, or heavy infrastructure buildings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain strong HSEQ awareness across project activities.
• Lead delivery of a major buildings package within the Darwin Ship Lift Project.
• Coordinate contract administration, insurance and contractual obligations.
• Monitor programmes and drive performance against milestones.
• Manage procurement and subcontractor engagement; negotiate and finalise contracts.
• Prepare progress claims, forecasts and project reporting.
• Identify and manage variations, EOTs and contractual risks.
• Oversee cost control, budgeting and monthly reporting.
• Coordinate pre-start and delivery meetings with stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop project engineers and site engineers.
