Job summary

Sharp & Carter, an Australian professional services business, seeks an experienced bookkeeping/accounting professional for a role blending client advisory, team coordination and practice management.

You will manage a portfolio of client bookkeeping and accounting work, oversee GST/BAS/IAS activities, support payroll compliance, and help shape processes while working with owners on strategic growth.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience across bookkeeping and client accounting functions.
• Sound knowledge of Australian bookkeeping and compliance requirements.
• Experience with BAS/IAS and GST-related activities.
• Payroll exposure and payroll compliance experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Experience coordinating, mentoring or supervising other team members.
• Proactive in process and technology improvements.
• Interest in business advisory and developing commercial skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of client bookkeeping and accounting requirements
• Completing and overseeing GST, BAS and IAS-related activities
• Supporting payroll compliance and payroll tax reporting
• Managing client files, data and documentation
• Monitoring client workflows, deadlines and scope to ensure work is delivered efficiently
• Supporting client onboarding, including understanding client requirements and assisting with scoping and pricing
• Attending client premises where required to assess bookkeeping and training requirements
• Developing and maintaining client procedures and ensuring the team follows established processes
• Providing business advisory support to clients, with training provided where required
• Supervising and coordinating both Australian-based and offshore team members
• Supporting the implementation of new technology, systems and process improvements
• Building strong client relationships and maintaining a high standard of client service
• Working alongside the owners on the strategic direction and continued growth of the business
