Job summary

Enemix in Australia seeks an experienced Principal BESS Engineer to lead the engineering, design and delivery of utility-scale battery energy storage assets. You will oversee electrical engineering, integration with renewables and grid systems, and ensure project success.

You will guide OEM selections, supervise design and commissioning, and ensure compliance with Australian grid codes while collaborating with developers, EPCs, regulators and clients to drive sustainable energy solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in detailed project engineering, design, and technical implementation of utility-scale BESS assets.
• Strong understanding of energy storage technologies, electrical power systems, grid integration, and Australian utility standards.
• Proactive approach to troubleshooting complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed project engineering and oversee end-to-end design of BESS systems to meet technical and commercial requirements.
• Provide expert technical guidance on engineering, construction, and commissioning of BESS assets at utility scale.
• Evaluate and select OEMs ensuring compliance with specifications, performance and quality.
• Supervise the electrical design and integration with renewables and grid systems.
• Ensure compliance with Australian grid regulations, codes and best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, EPC contractors, regulators and clients to deliver projects effectively.
• Assess and optimize system performance during testing and commissioning to meet KPIs.
• Monitor developments in BESS tech and Australian energy market regulations to provide strategic recommendations.
