Job summary

Enemix seeks a Principal BESS Engineer - Electrical in Melbourne to lead the end-to-end design and delivery of utility-scale battery energy storage systems, integrating storage with renewables and grid networks.

You will guide engineering teams, select OEMs, ensure compliance with Australian grid regulations, and drive performance during testing and commissioning while collaborating with developers, EPCs, regulators, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in detailed project engineering, design, and implementation of utility-scale BESS assets.
• Strong understanding of energy storage technologies, electrical power systems, grid integration, and Australian utility standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale technical projects from concept through completion.
• Familiarity with Australian grid codes, safety standards, and regulatory practices affecting energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed project engineering and oversee end-to-end design of BESS systems, ensuring delivery aligns with technical and commercial requirements.
• Provide expert technical guidance on engineering, construction, and commissioning of BESS assets at utility scale.
• Evaluate and select OEMs, ensuring compliance with specifications, performance standards, and quality requirements.
• Supervise the design of electrical systems and components of battery storage solutions, including integration with renewables and grid systems.
• Conduct technical reviews to ensure compliance with Australian grid regulations, codes, and best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, EPC contractors, regulators, and clients to deliver projects effectively.
• Assess and optimize system performance during testing and commissioning, ensuring KPIs are met.
• Monitor developments in BESS technology and Australian energy market regulations for strategic recommendations.
