Job description

The Insights Loop is a specialist healthcare research and behavioural science consultancy. We work with pharmaceutical, medtech and healthcare organisations to turn rigorous research into practical strategies that improve commercial decision-making and contribute to better patient outcomes. Our work spans qualitative and quantitative research, journey mapping, communications optimisation, strategic consulting and behavioural science trainings.

The opportunity
About The Insights Loop

The Insights Loop is a specialist healthcare research and behavioural science consultancy. We work with pharmaceutical, medtech and healthcare organisations to turn rigorous research into practical strategies that improve commercial decision-making and contribute to better patient outcomes. Our work spans qualitative and quantitative research, journey mapping, communications optimisation, strategic consulting and behavioural science trainings.

This role is for an experienced healthcare researcher who wants greater ownership, closer client relationships, stronger strategic influence and the opportunity to help shape a growing specialist consultancy.

You will independently lead projects from brief to final recommendation, combining methodological rigour with clear commercial thinking. You will work directly with clients and the Senior Directors, support junior colleagues, and help turn evidence into practical strategies that influence HCP, patient and brand outcomes.

The Senior Consultant sits between Consultant and Associate Director. The emphasis is on excellent end-to-end delivery, confident day-to-day client leadership and growing contribution to proposals and account development, without carrying a standalone revenue target.

What you will do
Lead research and consulting projects
  • Own end-to-end delivery: Translate client briefs into clear objectives, practical project plans and high-quality outputs across qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method studies.
  • Design robust research: Draft and refine screeners, discussion guides, questionnaires and analysis frameworks that answer the commercial question.
  • Manage fieldwork and partners: Oversee recruiters, fieldwork agencies, survey programmers and other suppliers; monitor timelines, quotas, quality and risk.
  • Analyse and synthesise: Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis, identify the strongest implications, and convert findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Create compelling deliverables: Produce accurate, well-structured and presentation-ready reports using strong storytelling and structured thinking.
  • Contribute/ participate in behavioural science trainings
Lead clients with confidence
  • Be a trusted day-to-day contact: Lead kick-offs, updates, debriefs and issue-resolution conversations with clarity and professionalism.
  • Present persuasively: Communicate findings and recommendations to client teams, adapting the story to the audience and business context.
  • Protect delivery quality: Manage scope, timing, budget awareness, dependencies and risks, escalating early when needed.
  • Build relationships: Identify follow‑on needs through excellent delivery and thoughtful client conversations, in partnership with senior leaders.
Apply behavioural science and healthcare context
  • Integrate behavioural science: Use relevant frameworks and principles to strengthen research design, interpretation and intervention ideas.
  • Think beyond the findings: Connect evidence to HCP, patient and brand behaviour, and recommend practical actions that reflect real-world healthcare constraints.
  • Stay curious: Build knowledge of therapy areas, healthcare systems, research innovation, AI‑enabled tools and emerging client needs.
Strengthen the team and business
  • Coach others: Review work, provide practical feedback and support the development of Consultants and Analysts.
  • Contribute to proposals: Help shape methodologies, timings, project plans, credentials and selected proposal sections.
  • Improve how we work: Contribute to templates, quality standards, proprietary frameworks and smarter ways of delivering excellent work.
  • Model ownership: Bring sound judgement, reliability, attention to detail and a solutions‑focused mindset to a small, agile team.
What we are looking for
Must-have experience
  • Approximately 4-8+ years of experience in market research, insights or consulting, with the capability to lead projects substantially independently.
  • Hands‑on experience across qualitative and/or quantitative research, with strong working knowledge of the full project lifecycle.
  • Experience drafting research materials, managing fieldwork, analysing evidence and writing client-ready reports.
  • Confident client communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex findings simply.
  • Advanced PowerPoint skills and strong Excel capability; experience with Q, DisplayR, SPSS or similar tools is highly regarded.
  • Excellent written English, organisation, attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
  • Full Australian working rights without requiring employer sponsorship.
Highly regarded
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, medtech, life sciences or an adjacent regulated sector.
  • Experience working across both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Applied knowledge of behavioural science frameworks and behaviour‑change thinking.
  • Experience supporting proposals, pitches, account growth or client relationship development.
  • Interest in AI‑enabled research, research innovation, digital health or communications optimisation.
How behavioural science shapes our work

Behavioural science is embedded in how we work. We use it to sharpen research questions, understand what drives HCP and patient behaviour, interpret evidence, develop practical recommendations and design interventions that work within real‑world healthcare constraints. It is not a separate add‑on at the end of a project.

How success will be measured
  • Projects are delivered on time, within agreed scope and to a consistently high standard.
  • Clients receive clear, credible and actionable recommendations, not just research findings.
  • Risks, trade‑offs and quality issues are identified early and managed constructively.
  • Junior colleagues receive useful guidance and the team benefits from dependable collaboration.
  • Proposals, client relationships and internal ways of working improve through your contribution.
Who will thrive here
  • Enjoy both thinking and doing: You can move comfortably from designing robust research to shaping the strategic story and presenting it to clients.
  • Prefer ownership over hierarchy: You take responsibility, use sound judgement and communicate early when priorities, risks or trade‑offs need attention.
  • Like being close to clients: You enjoy understanding the real business question, building trust and helping stakeholders make better decisions.
  • Are curious about behaviour: You want to understand why HCPs, patients and organisations act as they do, not simply describe the real business question.
  • Want to help build: You are motivated by improving methods, templates, team capability and the way a growing consultancy works.
Why join The Insights Loop?
  • Visible impact: Your work will influence real healthcare, patient and commercial decisions.
  • Boutique environment: Work directly with Directors and clients, with less hierarchy and greater ownership.
  • Varied, interesting work: Build breadth across therapy areas, methodologies, strategy, consulting and behavioural science.
  • Behavioural science at the core: Work in a consultancy where behavioural science influences research design, interpretation and practical strategy, rather than being bolted on at the end.
  • Room to grow: Develop toward Associate Director through stronger account leadership, commercial contribution and team capability‑building.
  • Flexible collaboration: Combine focused independent work with purposeful in‑person team and client connection.
Remuneration and work style
  • AUD $112,000-$126,000 total package, including statutory superannuation. Position within the band will reflect relevant experience and demonstrated capability.
  • Flexibility for a broader appointment: For an exceptional candidate operating above Senior Consultant level who brings proven business development capability and relevant client relationships, the title, scope and salary may be negotiated beyond this band.
  • Full‑time, hybrid role based in Sydney, with flexibility aligned to client needs, project timelines and team collaboration.
  • Occasional travel or face‑to‑face client sessions may be required.
  • The Insights Loop welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds and is committed to a respectful, inclusive workplace.
