Job summary

Finstro is hiring a backend engineer to own services from design through production in a credit decisioning platform. You will integrate internal and external systems and ensure robust observability and safe releases.

You bring 5+ years of backend experience, proficiency in Java, Go, or TypeScript/Node, and strong API design skills. The role focuses on production reliability, automation, and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend experience in production systems.
• Proficiency in one modern language (Java, Go, TypeScript/Node).
• Experience designing and consuming APIs with external providers.
• Strong automated testing habits and release discipline.
• Observability: logs, metrics, tracing, and incident diagnosis.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to raise issues early.

Responsibilities

• Build and own backend services from design to production.
• Integrate external/internal systems (credit bureaus, banking feeds).
• Instrument and run services with good observability and on-call readiness.
• Lead safe releases with automated tests and reliable contracts.
• Collaborate with Credit and Operations to surface requirements early.
• Mentor junior engineers and help shape team practices.
