Job summary

Telstra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Sydney to design and deliver scalable backend services, APIs and event-driven solutions. You will own end-to-end software delivery, champion quality and security, and influence architectural decisions within a collaborative, Agile environment embedded in CI/CD best practice.

• Advanced backend engineering across Java, Kotlin and Node.js with REST APIs and microservices.
• Cloud-native architectures on AWS/Azure, Docker and Kubernetes with production ownership.
• Experience with event-driven systems, Kafka and Redis Streams, plus secure delivery pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using modern practices.
• Deliver secure, reliable software through automated testing and CI/CD.
• Diagnose production issues using logs, metrics and tracing tools.
• Own end-to-end solutions from design to deployment and production support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technical direction.
