Telstra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Android in Sydney. You will design, build and maintain native Android apps, translating customer needs into scalable solutions while driving architectural decisions and engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Advanced Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Secure, accessible delivery with automated testing and CI/CD.
• Strong debugging and performance optimisation skills.
• Experience building and integrating APIs and microservices.
• Familiar with AI-assisted engineering tools.
• Technical leadership and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise native Android applications using Kotlin and modern Android frameworks, with a focus on scalable, reusable and maintainable solutions.
• Deliver high-quality, secure and accessible software through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD practices and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex performance, reliability and production issues using debugging, profiling, logging and observability tools.
• Own features end-to-end, from technical design and development through to release, production support and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product, Design, Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes and influence technical direction.
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing and driving engineering excellence across the team.
