Job summary

Megaport is seeking a senior backend engineer to own and evolve our core product, balancing technical debt with feature delivery. You will design scalable RESTful APIs, mentor juniors, and help shape the platform architecture in a remote-first environment with flexible coworking options.

You’ll lead small project teams, collaborate across technical and non-technical audiences, and push for high-quality software through robust testing and CI/CD improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience building backend services in web app ecosystems.
• Ability to lead small projects and provide architectural guidance.
• Strong data modelling with relational databases and SQL.

Responsibilities

• Product development & ownership including legacy modernization and new features.
• System maintenance, performance improvements, and scaling decisions.
• API design, delivery, versioning standards, and monitoring.
• Quality and release engineering with CI/CD improvements.
• Mentorship and technical leadership for junior engineers.
