Megaport is seeking a senior engineer who is highly respected and able to lead effectively. You will own features from design to delivery, balance technical debt with user experience, and mentor peers in a no ego team within a remote-first culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Proven experience building backend services in web apps.
• Ability to act as technical lead on small projects.
• Strong data modelling with relational databases and SQL.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across audiences.
• Sharp logical reasoning and clear explanations.
• Bonus: familiarity with IP routing or MPLS networking.

Responsibilities

• Product Development & Ownership – evolve core product, modernise legacy components, add features, shape long-term direction.
• System Maintenance & Technical Improvements – reduce technical debt, improve performance and reliability, scale decisions.
• API Design & Delivery – build secure, scalable RESTful APIs with proper versioning & monitoring.
• Quality & Release Engineering – contribute tests, code reviews, CI/CD improvements.
• Mentorship & Technical Leadership – coach juniors, promote good design, foster continuous learning.
