Job summary

InSight Systems in Melbourne CBD is seeking an experienced Senior AV Technician to join our Managed Services team on a full-time basis.

You will lead complex AV support, mentor junior technicians, and partner with stakeholders to deliver reliable AV environments, while contributing to system improvements and technical standards.

Qualifications

• Strong AV system integration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with large/complex environments is preferred.
• Ability to lead technical reviews and design discussions.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Knowledge of AV/IT convergence and networked AV.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex and high-impact AV incidents.

• Provide hands‑on technical support and troubleshooting across AV systems, including DSP, control systems and networked AV.

• Lead technical reviews and system audits to identify performance issues, risks and opportunities for improvement.

• Support AV project planning, system upgrades, refurbishments and new technology deployments.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors and key stakeholders to maintain consistent AV standards.

• Diagnose recurring technical issues, complete root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.

• Maintain accurate technical documentation, including schematics, network diagrams, configurations and system information.

• Evaluate emerging AV technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Mentor and support AV technicians, sharing technical knowledge and troubleshooting best practices.

• Deliver technical training and contribute to the onboarding and development of technical team members.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Strong experience in AV system integration, support and troubleshooting, ideally within a large or complex environment.

• Advanced knowledge of AV technologies, including Crestron and/or AMX control systems.

• Experience with DSP platforms such as Q‑SYS and Biamp.

• Strong knowledge of AV‑over‑IP and networked AV systems.

• Experience supporting video conferencing, room scheduling and collaboration platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

• A strong understanding of ICT infrastructure and AV/IT convergence.

• Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and resolving complex AV issues.

• Strong documentation and technical design review skills.

• The ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• A collaborative approach and willingness to mentor and develop other team members.
