Intelligent Robotics Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer in Australia to design and deliver advanced robotic automation systems across manufacturing sectors. You’ll lead architectures for PLC, robot, vision and motion control, develop PLC/HMI applications, and mentor junior engineers while solving multidisciplinary challenges on real production lines.
Join a team applying AI, machine vision and Physical AI to complex industrial problems, with opportunities for technical
Come and work on the ones that haven't been solved yet.
At Intelligent Robotics (IR), we’re developing advanced robotic and automation systems for some of the most challenging applications in industry.
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer who loves solving difficult engineering problems and wants to work at the intersection of robotics, automation, machine vision, motion control and AI.
This isn’t a role where you’ll spend your time making minor modifications to the same PLC program or commissioning another standard production line.
You’ll be designing and delivering systems where robots need to see, understand, decide and interact with complex real-world environments.
Our projects combine technologies including:
You’ll work across the complete engineering lifecycle:
Concept → Design → Development → Integration → FAT → Commissioning → Production
One day you might be developing the architecture for a new robotic production system.
The next you could be integrating a 3D vision system, optimising robot motion, solving a PLC sequencing problem, commissioning equipment at a customer site or helping turn an R&D concept into a commercial product.
As a Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer, you’ll take significant technical responsibility for the systems you work on.
You’ll:
Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to actually engineer.
We’re looking for an experienced automation or robotics engineer who enjoys being challenged.
You might currently be a:
Senior Automation Engineer | Senior Controls Engineer | Robotics Engineer | Lead Automation Engineer | Mechatronics Engineer | Systems Engineer
You don’t need to be an expert in every technology we use.
But you should have strong experience in industrial automation and enough breadth to understand how the complete system fits together.
Ideally, you’ll bring experience across several of the following:
Experience with technologies from B&R, Omron, Stäubli, ABB, KUKA, Universal Robots, Cognex, Photoneo, SICK, or similar platforms would be valuable.
But we’re much more interested in how you think and solve problems than whether you’ve used a particular brand of PLC or robot.
You enjoy getting to the bottom of difficult problems.
You’re comfortable starting with a blank sheet of paper rather than waiting for someone else to give you the solution.
You can look beyond your own engineering discipline and understand the whole machine.
You can move between software, robots, PLCs, sensors, mechanical systems and production processes.
You take pride in building equipment that doesn’t just work during FAT—it works reliably when the customer needs to run production every day.
And when something doesn’t work?
You’re the type of engineer who wants to know why.
Because we’re trying to automate the things that are difficult to automate.
Our engineers work on projects involving advanced robotics, machine vision, AI, intelligent automation, humanoids and Physical AI.
We’re applying these technologies to real industrial problems across advanced manufacturing, food processing, biomedical/life sciences and other industries.
You’ll work alongside engineers who enjoy technology, experimentation and solving hard problems.
You’ll also have the opportunity to influence how systems are designed—not simply implement someone else’s specification.
As IR grows, there will be opportunities for strong engineers to develop into technical leadership, engineering management and specialist technology roles.
