Job summary

UniSuper is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to deliver scalable test automation solutions for UI, API and integration layers. You will collaborate with engineers, product owners and platform teams to foster automation-first practices and strong engineering discipline.

The role emphasizes shift-left testing, CI/CD improvements and continuous quality enhancement within agile delivery squads, with a 60% office commitment in Melbourne.

Qualifications

• You bring strong hands-on test automation experience within agile delivery environments.
• You have experience delivering and maintaining automation suites at scale.
• You have proficiency with UI, API, and integration testing tools and CI/CD pipelines.
• You understand microservices and cloud-native architectures and test data management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver risk-based, automation-first test approaches aligned to delivery needs.
• Deliver automation frameworks and test suites across UI, API and integration layers.
• Improve test reliability, maintainability and CI/CD execution.
• Support shift-left practices, including BDD, TDD and early test design.
• Analyse defects, test results and production incidents to identify quality gaps.
• Contribute to shared quality capability through collaboration and knowledge sharing

About you

You bring strong hands-on test automation experience within agile delivery environments and enjoy solving complex quality challenges. You collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, balancing quality outcomes with delivery pragmatism. In addition, you will:

• Experience delivering and maintaining automation suites at scale
• Proficiency in Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, RestAssured, Pytest or TOSCA
• Strong understanding of API, integration and contract testing
• Experience supporting automated tests within CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of microservices, cloud-native architectures and test data management
• A tertiary qualification in a related discipline, or equivalent experience
