Job summary

Hall & Wilcox in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Associate to join our General Insurance team. You will work on a broad range of insurance matters, with emphasis on property recovery and personal injury matters, handling your own files with supportive partners.

You will contribute to a national practice that advises on litigated claims for major insurers and corporates, with opportunities for leadership, mentoring, and professional development in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law.
• Experience managing property recovery and personal injury claims.
• Experience advising on indemnity matters.
• Experience in day-to-day management of files and running matters through court proceedings.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals.
• Clear, concise legal writing skills; able to work autonomously as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain carriage of your own files with appropriate supervisory support.
• Engage in client interaction and strategy development with the team.
• Review documents and prepare evidence for proceedings.
• Draft correspondence to the Court and third parties.
• Confer with witnesses and prepare witness statements.
• Liaise with experts and prepare briefs for counsel.
• Draft Court documents and attend Court when required.
