Job summary

Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Environment, Planning and Communities team in Perth. You will work closely with Partner Mel Debenham, handling project development, compliance, transactional and strategic advice for clients across mining, oil and gas, energy, infrastructure and environmental sectors.

The role offers front-end and contentious work, exposure to ESG and energy transition projects, and a collaborative national team with strong professional

Qualifications

• Australian or New Zealand practicing certificate with demonstrated experience in land access and acquisition, environment and planning, regulatory approvals, native title and/or indigenous heritage.
• Strong academic record and practical legal skills.
• Ability to work under tight timeframes and collaboratively within a leading team.

Responsibilities

• Provide land access and approvals services including environmental impact assessments and major projects strategy.
• Advisory on environmental laws, energy, resources, carbon regimes, Aboriginal heritage and regulatory compliance.
• Native title and First Nations engagement strategy, negotiations and statutory consultation.
• Pollution control, incident response and enforcement actions.
• Transactional support in M&A, project finance and procurement.
