Job summary

Excolo. in Adelaide is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to hands-on build AI-enabled platform features for government, defence and enterprise customers. You will design, implement and test Java components, and drive AI adoption across a small engineering team.

You’ll produce production-ready AI solutions, model data with Postgres/Elastic, and deploy to AWS. The role is on-site in Adelaide, requiring a passion for cutting-edge AI and delivering reliable software at scale.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience implementing generative and agentic AI in software products.
• Strong experience across software engineering, data storage and web technologies.
• Genuine interest in state-of-the-art AI developments and best practices.
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills, including UML.
• Organised, collaborative approach with a track record of timely delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Software or Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior AI Engineer, you’ll be a hands-on member of the engineering team, scoping, designing, building, integrating and testing software that solves real end-user needs. You’ll bring generative and agentic AI into production features, write quality Java code, and coach a small group of developers to deliver well-engineered components on time. You’ll also help drive AI adoption across the development team, sharing what works and raising the bar on how the team builds with AI.
