Job summary

Calleo is seeking a Senior Cloud AI Engineer to design, deploy and operate cloud-native AI platforms for enterprise-scale AI workloads across Australia. You will collaborate with architects, security, data scientists and business stakeholders to deliver secure, resilient platforms that align with government standards.

You will lead platform engineering, IaC and DevSecOps practices in complex environments, driving innovation and scalable AI capability delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing, building and supporting secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and/or Azure environments.
• Strong expertise in Kubernetes, OpenShift and OpenShift AI, including deployment, administration and optimisation.
• Experience with container technologies including Docker and Podman, with a focus on security and enterprise platform engineering.
• Demonstrated capability implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible or similar) and DevOps/GitOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Argo CD and related tooling.
• Experience delivering AI/ML platforms, MLOps solutions and model lifecycle management in production environments.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and LLM technologies, including RAG, vector databases, model serving and AI agent frameworks.
• Strong Python scripting and automation skills, with experience integrating cloud, platform and AI services.
• Solid understanding of Linux, networking, observability, security, DevSecOps and secure-by-design principles.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud AI Engineer to join a large-scale national digital transformation program delivering next-generation AI capabilities across enterprise environments. This role will play a key part in designing, implementing and optimising secure, scalable AI platforms that support critical services used by millions of Australians.

This is an opportunity to work on complex and innovative AI initiatives involving cloud engineering, platform modernisation, generative AI, machine learning operations and enterprise-scale infrastructure.

About the Role

As a Senior Cloud AI Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, deployment and operation of cloud-native AI platforms, supporting AI, ML and Generative AI workloads across both existing and newly established environments.

You will collaborate with architects, cyber security specialists, data scientists, engineering teams and business stakeholders to establish secure, resilient and scalable AI platforms that align with government standards and best practices.

This position requires a highly autonomous professional who can provide technical leadership, drive innovation, influence stakeholders and deliver outcomes within complex enterprise environments.
