Excolo. seeks an AI Lead in Adelaide to own the AI architecture and technical roadmap for an enterprise-grade platform. You will stay hands-on, design AI features, and set engineering standards across the team, with no direct reports.

The role requires a decade of software experience and a track record in generative and agentic AI, plus strong cloud and data-storage expertise. This is a hands-on leadership position in a mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering or technology development with hands-on AI architecture and implementation.
• Proven track record designing and deploying generative and agentic AI solutions.
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles, data storage and cloud architecture.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills (e.g. UML).

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and implementation of AI features, including generative and agentic AI capabilities.
• Scope and design AI components that integrate with existing software stacks.
• Set engineering best practices for AI development and act as the go-to technical authority for the engineering team.
• Architect scalable, AI-enabled features for cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP).

ABOUT THE ROLE

As AI Lead, you'll drive the design and integration of advanced AI capabilities across an enterprise-grade product suite. You'll own the AI architecture and technical roadmap, set the standards the engineering team builds to, and stay hands-on in designing and delivering AI features into production. This is a technical leadership role with no direct reports.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead the architecture and implementation of AI features, including generative and agentic AI capabilities
• Scope and design AI components that integrate seamlessly with existing software stacks
• Set engineering best practices for AI development and act as the go-to technical authority and mentor for the engineering team
• Architect scalable, AI-enabled features for cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP)

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 10+ years in software engineering or technology development, with significant hands-on experience in AI architecture and implementation
• A proven track record designing and deploying generative and agentic AI solutions
• Strong grounding in software engineering principles, data storage and cloud architecture
• Strong technical leadership, problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to influence without authority and produce clear technical documentation (e.g. UML)
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field
• Familiarity with web technologies and frameworks such as React and Spring is highly regarded

WHAT'S ON OFFER

• $180,000 - $200,000 base + superannuation

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• This role is based on-site in Adelaide, 5 days per week
• Australian Citizenship is mandatory due to NV1 defence security clearance eligibility requirements
