Western Union seeks a Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance (Fixed Term) in Sydney to support AML Compliance. The role drives policy and controls development, conducts QA reviews, and provides actionable feedback to improve processes within the Regulatory Compliance department.

You will analyze data, support regulatory relationships, and collaborate across operations, compliance and technology to embed quality standards and ensure adherence to AML/CTF obligations.

Qualifications

• Education: a degree in commerce, business, law, finance, risk, compliance or equivalent; CA-qualified or pursuing CA.
• Quality Assurance Experience – 3+ years in QA, QC, or operational risk in financial services or regulated industries.
• Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – AML/CTF obligations, sanctions, AUSTRAC/APRA/ASIC familiarity.

**Senior Analyst, Quality Assurance (Fixed Term) – Sydney, Australia**The Senior Analyst, AML Compliance is under general supervision from senior management.This position supports the development, implementation and enforcement of policies, procedures and programs designed to minimize potential Compliance risk for Western Union and its affiliates, within the established strategies of the Regulatory Compliance department.**An opportunity to join Western Union’s Compliance Team on a full-time basis for a 24-month period.****Role Responsibilities:*** Helps organization management in the development of overall organisation strategies, goals and initiatives.* Helps manage compliance requirements for assigned business units and agents.* Supports senior management with reporting and regulatory relationships within regulatory agencies and agents.* Supports business units' efforts to comply with company policies and procedures as they relate to compliance.* Evaluates internal controls for the business and agents through transaction analyses, compliance reviews and training sessions.* Responsible for follow up with the business and agents concerning review findings and communication of assessments to the appropriate internal management.**Role Requirements:*** Education: A degree in commerce, business, law, finance, risk, compliance, or equivalent, with CA qualified or working towards CA (or equivalent).* Quality Assurance Experience – 3+ years’ experience in quality assurance, quality control, or operational risk within financial services, fintech, or a regulated industry.* Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge – Understanding of AML/CTF obligations, sanctions requirements, and relevant industry regulations (AUSTRAC, APRA, ASIC) is highly regarded.* Analytical Skills – Strong ability to review case files, transactions, or operational outputs, identify errors or gaps, and provide clear, actionable feedback.* Attention to Detail – Exceptional accuracy in reviewing documentation, data, and processes, with a focus on consistency and compliance.* Reporting & Insights – Experience producing QA reports, trend analysis, and recommendations for process improvement using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools.* Stakeholder Collaboration – Ability to work closely with operations, compliance, and technology teams to embed quality standards and resolve issues.* Process Improvement Mindset – Proven track record of identifying inefficiencies and contributing to the design of improved workflows or controls.* Communication Skills – Strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver feedback constructively and prepare clear documentation.* Technical Proficiency – Familiarity with case management systems, AML monitoring tools, or workflow platforms is advantageous.* Professional Development – Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, Six Sigma) are desirable but not essential.**Additional Skills:*** Strong working knowledge of:* AML/CTF Act and Rules (Australia)* AUSTRAC regulatory expectations* Customer Due Diligence requirements* Transaction Monitoring* Suspicious Matter Reporting* Sanctions Compliance**Work Shift**Western Union values in-person collaboration, problem solving, and ideation whenever possible.
