AEMO is seeking a Senior Analyst in Operational Forecasting to lead and extend forecasting models for electricity demand, rooftop PV and variable renewables across the NEM and WEM, supporting real-time control centres.

You will mentor analysts and graduates, coordinate across teams, and translate weather risks into actionable system insights for secure, reliable power operations. Based in any Australian capital city with flexible/hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Forecasting, operation, analytical or market-related experience.
• Strong mentoring and collaborative skills across projects.
• Ability to communicate technical information to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and improvement of short-term forecasts for electricity demand and PV/renewables.
• Mentor analysts, graduates and interns to strengthen team capability.
• Coordinate with control rooms to translate weather risks into actionable insights.
• Prepare high-quality reports and present findings to senior management.
