Job summary

AEMO is seeking a Principal Analyst in its System Planning team to deliver high-quality energy forecasts and modelling insights. You will lead complex modelling efforts, apply advanced techniques including optimisation and AI-enabled approaches, and guide investment decisions in Australia's power system.

Based in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Hobart or Brisbane with flexible working arrangements. You will mentor analysts and influence stakeholders across the energy sector.

Qualifications

Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in engineering, economics, physics, data science or related field.
Extensive experience in electricity market modelling, forecasting or power system planning.
Advanced PLEXOS experience essential; exposure to Databricks, Python and/or R highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Lead complex modelling, forecasting and power system planning studies informing investment and policy decisions.
Act as technical authority for modelling quality assurance and robust analytical outcomes.
Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to analysts to deliver high-quality results.
