Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in agile digital service delivery environments.
  • Experience delivering AI-enabled products is preferred.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles (transparency, privacy by design) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive rapid prototyping sessions to demonstrate AI capabilities and inform future-state process design.
  • Elicit, analyse, and document AI and data requirements; decompose into epics, features, and user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Define non-functional requirements and establish human-in-the-loop checkpoints and decision boundaries.
  • Co-design evaluation frameworks, ground-truth datasets, and robust test plans (A/B trials, shadow testing).
  • Lead discovery workshops, backlog refinement, and cross-functional mapping, translating AI concepts for stakeholders.
  • Support governance and policy alignment with privacy and risk assessments.

Job description

We are looking to engage an experienced and highly capable AI Specialist to Join an innovative, multi-disciplinary delivery team shaping the 'art of the possible' through cutting-edge AI capabilities across a major Federal Government department. Play a high-impact, strategic role in bridging the gap between business needs and modern technology leading rapid prototyping and designing ethical, human-centric AI solutions that transform public sector workflows in tis long term opportunity.

Candidates with a Baseline Clearance will be preferred for this position, Australian citizens eligible for a Baseline Clearance will also be considered.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive Rapid Prototyping: Lead hands‑on prototyping sessions using Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and Azure Foundry to demonstrate AI capabilities and inspire future‑state process design.
  • Requirements & Story Management: Elicit, analyse, and document AI and data requirements‑decomposing them into epics, features, and delivery‑ready user stories with testable acceptance criteria.
  • Ensure Responsible AI & Controls: Define non‑functional requirements (transparency, safety, robustness, privacy) and establish clear human‑in‑the‑loop (HITL) checkpoints and decision boundaries.
  • Design Testing & Evaluation Frameworks: Co‑design evaluation metrics, ground‑truth datasets, and robust test plans (including A/B trials, shadow testing, and red‑teaming).
  • Facilitate Discovery & Collaboration: Lead discovery workshops, backlog refinement, and cross‑functional mapping while translating complex technical AI concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • Governance & Policy Alignment: Maintain compliance with internal AI and data governance frameworks, supporting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and threat risk assessments.

To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:

  • Technical Toolkit: Strong exposure to the Microsoft ecosystem (Azure Foundry, Copilot Studio, Power Platform suite, ML, NLP/LLMs), alongside tools such as Azure DevOps and Miro.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst in agile digital service delivery environments, with proven success delivering AI‑enabled products.
  • Core Capabilities: Deep understanding of responsible AI principles (explainability, bias mitigation, privacy‑by‑design) paired with outstanding workshop facilitation and stakeholder management skills.
