Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Senior AI Scientist to deliver smart leads models and agentic workflows within Business & Wealth. You will own end-to-end use cases from framing to production, combining predictive customer insights with AI-enabled workflows to boost banker productivity and customer relevance.

You will stay close to models, experiments and workflows, explain trade-offs clearly, and ensure fair outcomes and safe operation while driving adoption and measurable value.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on Data Science experience in customer analytics and propensity modelling.
• Experience taking models and AI-enabled workflows from problem framing to production.
• Practical ability in experimentation and incremental-impact measurement, not just model accuracy.
• Applied experience with GenAI, retrieval or agentic workflows, including grounding and human review.
• Strong Python and SQL skills, with collaboration across AI engineering teams.
• Sound judgement on Responsible AI, privacy, security and customer safeguards.

Responsibilities

• Translate business priorities into smart leads and workflow use cases with clear users, outcomes and success measures.
• Develop customer propensity, opportunity and lead-prioritisation models using approved data and business context.
• Build agentic workflows to help teams prepare, prioritise and follow up opportunities within approved boundaries.
• Evaluate lead quality, model performance and incremental impact with production evidence.
• Test agent accuracy and grounding with human review and safe fallback.
• Partner with engineering and business teams to integrate models into practical workflows.
• Apply privacy, security, Responsible AI and model-risk controls.
