Job summary

Laing O’Rourke is seeking an AI Engineering Lead to steer the technical delivery of AI/ML and generative AI across Australia, based in North Sydney or Brisbane. You’ll shape scalable, production-ready solutions using Databricks, Azure and Copilot Studio, while guiding teams and partnering with senior stakeholders.

You’ll mentor delivery teams, uphold AI standards, and drive continuous improvement from experimentation to production, balancing risk, cost and performance in enterprise environments.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on AI/ML delivery experience in complex enterprises.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating across vendors/delivery partners.
• Strong background with Databricks AI, Azure and Copilot Studio.
• Experience evaluating and deploying LLM-based solutions with quality, safety and cost controls.
• Proven ability to convert prototypes into production-grade, observable services.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing and deployment of AI/ML and generative AI solutions using Databricks and Azure.
• Guide solution patterns, governance, and lifecycle practices across delivery teams.
• Provide technical leadership, assurance and strategic advice to stakeholders and teams.
