Job summary

Wesfarmers OneDigital is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to lead delivery of AI and GenAI initiatives. You will design solutions, write production-grade code, and manage deployment with early-life support.

You will mentor peers and collaborate across data, cyber, platform, and governance teams to enable reliable AI systems. This role sits within Australia’s leading retailers ecosystem, offering exposure to large-scale enterprise environments, cloud-native services, and cutting-edge GenAI patterns.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience
• Hands-on experience designing and delivering LLM or GenAI applications
• Experience leading the technical delivery of a production AI, ML or GenAI solution
• Experience integrating applications with APIs, databases and enterprise systems
• Experience with cloud platforms, cloud-native services and production operations
• Strong knowledge of GenAI patterns including RAG, agents, tool use and structured outputs
• Strong software engineering fundamentals across source control, testing, CI/CD and observability

Responsibilities

• Lead solution design and technical delivery for AI initiatives
• Write clean, maintainable production code on the delivery path
• Turn ambiguous requirements into practical designs and sequenced work
• Own a solution from discovery through deployment and early-life support
• Build automated tests and evaluations for AI behaviour and software behavior
• Add tracing, monitoring and logging for production observability
• Integrate AI apps with enterprise APIs, data sources and systems
• Diagnose complex issues across code, prompts and models
• Lead code and design reviews for initiatives
• Mentor AI Engineers through pairing and feedback
• Work with data engineers to make enterprise data available
