Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years full-time experience as a chef in aged care kitchen.
• Sound understanding of food safety practices and nutrition for older adults.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and time management.
• Certificate IV in commercial cookery and Diploma in hospitality management is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals for aged care residents, including specialised dietary and texture-modified meals.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, equipment, and food storage.
• Assist with menu planning that reflects resident preferences and seasonal ingredients.
• Manage stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory.
• Be part of food focus committee meetings and new menu implementation team.
• Work cooperatively with kitchen and care staff to support positive dining experiences.
• Supervise and manage lesser experienced Cooks and train in culinary techniques where necessary.
