Job summary

Rio Tinto in Perth, WA is seeking a Senior Advisor Planning to manage Traditional Owner Integrated Schedule and optimize surveys and engagement over the long term. You will report to the Principal Planning & Scheduling and provide technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk as part of integrated heritage management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk within the planning process.
  • Lead review and presentation of disturbance risk ratings and study requirements.
  • Coordinate independent review of heritage site documentation for timely decisions.
  • Integrate heritage inputs into studies, approvals and life-of-mine planning.
  • Maintain integrated Traditional Owner schedules and execution plans with milestones.
  • Optimise Traditional Owner engagement pathways and time forecast accuracy.
  • Establish five-year planning inputs and change/variance protocols.
  • Improve governance, training and conformance in heritage planning.

About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Planning to manage the Traditional Owner Integrated Schedule and optimise the use of Traditional Owner time for surveys and engagement over the long term. Reporting to the Principal Planning & Scheduling, you will also provide technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk as part of the integrated heritage management process.

Working across planning, Traditional Owner engagement, studies, approvals and operational teams, you will connect heritage risk information with short-term and long-term schedules. This is an opportunity to improve planning quality, strengthen decision-making and support timely engagement and approvals across Rio Tinto projects and operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Principal Planning & Scheduling and working across the integrated planning and heritage management environment, you will be

  • Providing technical advice on heritage site disturbance risk through the Integrated Heritage Management Planning process.
  • Leading the review, analysis and presentation of disturbance risk ratings, fieldwork requirements and stakeholder consultation needs to senior leaders.
  • Coordinating independent review and validation of heritage site documentation to support informed and timely decisions.
  • Integrating heritage inputs into studies, approvals and life-of-mine planning, including clarification of heritage management triggers.
  • Managing and maintaining integrated Traditional Owner schedules and execution plans aligned with operational and integrated plan milestones.
  • Optimising critical Traditional Owner engagement pathways and forecasts for time demands, assumptions and remedial actions.
  • Establishing five-year planning inputs and approvals schedules, including change and variance management protocols.
  • Improving governance, training, capability and conformance within heritage planning and integrated scheduling processes.

Required For Success
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • Demonstrated experience in long-term scheduling, integrated planning, prioritisation or studies and life-of-mine planning within a complex operational environment.
  • Experience managing multiple data inputs, actions and issues across concurrent planning cycles and stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to analyse heritage, risk or planning information and translate it into clear narratives and recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management and communication capability across technical, operational and community-facing teams.
  • A relevant qualification in planning, project management, business, heritage, land management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Helpful for Success
  • Experience with integrated heritage management planning, heritage approvals or site disturbance risk processes.
  • Experience planning Traditional Owner surveys, engagement activities or fieldwork programs.
  • Knowledge of mining studies, approvals, infrastructure projects or operational planning in Western Australia.
