Job summary

Spinner Medical in Canberra seeks a Consultant in Addictions Psychiatry to work across inpatient and outpatient services within the ACT Health framework. You will lead clinical care, supervise trainees and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality addiction services.

The role emphasizes teaching, research and policy involvement, with opportunities for conjoint academic appointments. Excellent relocation support and a comprehensive benefits package accompany the position.

Qualifications

• FRANZCP and/or FAChAM or overseas equivalent in addiction psychiatry.
• Substantial experience in addictions psychiatry or related settings.
• First class communication skills.
• Willingness to participate in teaching and training initiatives.
• Extensive experience in MDT (multidisciplinary) settings.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and treat people with alcohol and other drug dependence.
• Train juniors, registrars and medical students.
• Advise private medical practitioners and other health professionals on addiction-related issues.
• Participate in research and quality assurance activities.
• Provide leadership and support high standards of service.
• Contribute to policy development with leadership and committees.
• Take part in after-hours and on-call duties as rostered.
