Private Advertiser in Brisbane seeks an experienced Senior Accounts Clerk to join our construction-focused team on a full-time basis. The role involves hands-on accounts processing, payroll support, and robust data management within a small, close-knit office.
You will handle routine accounting tasks with initiative, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established processes while maintaining high professional standards.
We’re looking for an experienced, motivated Senior Accounts Clerk to join our Brisbane team on a full-time basis.
We are a construction contractor working across structural, mechanical, civil and piping projects, and we’re looking for someone who brings strong accounts experience, a solid work ethic and a genuine willingness to contribute as part of a small, close-knit office.
This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who is confident in their abilities, organised, reliable and keen to work. You’ll need to be comfortable managing routine accounts processes accurately and efficiently, while also using initiative and good judgement when required.
Your responsibilities will include:
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Payroll processing and support
Supplier payments and reconciliations
End‑of‑month data entry and reconciliations
Sales and financial administration
Filing, archiving and maintaining accurate records and data systems
EOFY preparation and associated processes
Managing and directing incoming phone calls professionally
General office and administrative duties as required
The role is generally Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with some flexibility available depending on the successful candidate.
Previous experience in a similar accounts or senior administration role is essential. We are looking for someone who can step into the position with a sound understanding of accounts processes and confidently manage their workload.
You will ideally have:
Strong practical experience in accounts administration, bookkeeping or a similar role
Experience with MYOB and Microsoft Excel
Experience with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy
The ability to follow established processes and procedures consistently
Strong organisational and time-management skills
The ability to prioritise work and operate independently
A professional and confident telephone manner
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Fast and accurate data-entry and typing skills
Reliability, punctuality and your own transport
Relevant qualifications or training would be well regarded
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who wants to work, takes pride in doing a job properly and can be relied upon to follow tasks through.
There are recurring processes within the role, particularly around end‑of‑month requirements, so you need to be comfortable with routine and understand the importance of completing these tasks accurately and on time. We value initiative and ideas for improvement, but we also believe it is important to first understand the systems and processes already in place.
You’ll fit well within our team if you are:
Positive, practical and willing to get involved
Thoughtful and considered in the way you approach your work
Dependable and accountable
Comfortable working within a small team
Able to work independently without needing constant direction
Respectful, professional and easy to work with
Someone who values doing things properly rather than simply getting them done quickly
We maintain high standards across Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Communication, and honesty and reliability are extremely important to us.
This is an opportunity for an experienced accounts professional to become an important part of our Brisbane office and make a genuine contribution from day one.
