Job summary

Assemble recruitment is partnering with a boutique accounting and advisory firm on the Gold Coast to recruit a Senior Accountant or Supervisor. You will manage workflow across the Business Services & Tax division, lead a small team, and ensure client work moves efficiently while supporting growth.

Working with the Director, you will optimise processes, oversee WIP, budgeting and billing, and contribute to new client onboarding and development opportunities within a dynamic, modern practice.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Australian Business Services and Tax.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Experience managing workflow and client deadlines.
• Good understanding of WIP, billing, budgets and recoveries.
• Strong client management and communication skills.
• CA/CPA qualifications or actively working towards them.
• Experience with Xero and modern practice management systems.

ASSEMBLE has been engaged to recruit a Senior Accountant or Supervisor for a rapidly growing boutique accounting and advisory firm based near Miami on the Gold Coast. They currently have a team of 6 and services a broad range of SMEs and some larger national clients.

This is an opportunity to join a modern practice that is moving away from the traditional accounting firm model, with a strong focus on providing commercial, tax and advisory support to business owners rather than simply handling their compliance.

With that growth comes an opportunity for an experienced Business Services professional to step into a key position within the business and take ownership of the day-to-day operation of the accounting team.

The Opportunity

Working directly alongside the Director, you will take responsibility for managing workflow across the Business Services & Tax division and ensuring client work moves efficiently through the practice.

The Director has a strong technical tax background and is heavily involved in bringing new work into the business. This role has therefore been created for someone who can take ownership of the operational side of the practice managing workflow, deadlines, staff and client delivery while helping improve the systems and processes required to support further growth.

More important is your ability to lead a team, stay across multiple jobs and deadlines, manage WIP and ensure the practice runs efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing workflow, scheduling, job allocation and lodgement deadlines across the team
• Supervising and developing accountants within the Business Services division
• Reviewing work and ensuring jobs progress efficiently through the practice
• Managing WIP, budgets, billing, recoveries and debtors
• Monitoring team performance and assisting with workload planning
• Acting as a key point of contact for clients and managing expectations around delivery
• Improving internal systems, processes and practice management procedures
• Working closely with the Director on more complex technical matters and new client onboarding
• Supporting the continued growth of the firm and getting involved in business development where desired

About You

This position would suit an experienced Senior Accountant or Supervisor from an australian public practice environment who enjoys the operational and people-management side of accounting.

You will ideally have:

• Strong Australian Business Services & Tax experience
• Previous experience supervising or managing accounting staff
• Experience managing workflow and competing client deadlines
• A good understanding of WIP, billing, budgets and recoveries
• Strong client management and communication skills
• CA/CPA qualifications or be working towards them
• Experience with Xero and modern practice management systems
