Job summary

Sleek is seeking a Senior Accountant in our Sydney office, close to Hyde Park, to help SME clients with their accounting needs, BAS lodgements, and financial insights. You will deliver accurate records and partner with clients to support growth.

You will be an excellent communicator, capable of managing client relationships and delivering clear, actionable financial guidance while adhering to Australian standards. This role offers flexibility and a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience as an Accountant within an accounting firm.
• Experience preparing corporate tax returns is a major plus.
• Excellent communicator with strong client relationship management (verbal & written).
• Experience with BAS, IAS, and Australian regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge accurate BAS and IAS with GST and payroll liabilities reconciled.
• Maintain full sets of accounts across a portfolio of clients using Xero and Dext.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, invoicing and payments.
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to ensure ledger integrity and smooth operations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports with clear insights for decision-making.
• Provide payroll support and maintain strong communication with clients.
• Manage client relationships end to end and enable SME growth.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant that is excited about the below Mission and Outcomes to join our Sydney office located next to Hyde Park.

Mission

As a Senior Accountant in our Australia team, your mission is to support SME clients with their accounting matters, enabling growth and decision making. More specifically you will deliver accurate BAS lodgements, maintain clean financial records, and provide clients with clear, actionable financial insights.

We’re looking for an excellent communicator who thrives on being the go-to person for clients’ accounting needs, offering support, clarity, and confidence every step of the way.

Outcomes

• Prepare and lodge accurate Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), ensuring GST and payroll liabilities are reconciled and compliant with ATO regulations.
• Maintain accurate financial records and full sets of accounts across a portfolio of clients, using cloud systems like Xero and Dext, including fixed asset management, journals, and reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, payments, and reconciliation of supplier/client accounts.
• Collaborate with bookkeeping and tax teams to ensure accuracy of transaction recording, ledger integrity, and smooth financial operations.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports, offering clients clear insights to support decision-making.
• Provide payroll support and maintain strong communication with clients, acting as their go-to advisor for day-to-day accounting needs and ensuring adherence to Australian regulatory standards.
• Manage the client relationship from end to end, providing answers and guidance to Australian SME owners in their day to day operations. Be a business enabler supporting their growth.

To do this, you will have a minimum of 4 years experience as an Accountant within an accounting firm, with outstanding client relationship management (both verbal & written). Experience preparing corporate tax returns will be a major plus.

We want the candidate to be able to identify additional AI-led applications and be able to ascertain the practicalities of those solutions
