Job summary

MPAU Finance in Melbourne is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage core accounting activities in the pharmaceuticals space, delivering clear, reliable financial information and applying strong judgement within the Accounting & Finance function.

The role reports to the Financial Controller and involves supporting monthly close, reporting, budgeting and compliance, while driving process improvements and partnering with operations to provide financial insight. Hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified.
• Big 4 or mid-tier professional services experience across Audit or Business Services.
• Proven experience as Senior Accountant/Financial Accountant in a commercial environment.
• Ability to build effective relationships across Finance and the business.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities in deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.
• Assist with statutory reporting, tax compliance and external audits.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Drive process improvement and strengthen financial controls across finance.
• Assist FP&A with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and ad hoc modelling.

The Senior Accountant will report to the Financial Controller, contributing to the following:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.
• Assist with statutory reporting, tax compliance and external audit requirements.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Drive process improvement and strengthen financial controls across the finance function.
• Assist the FP&A Manager with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and ad hoc financial modelling to support business performance and strategic decision-making.
• Partner with operational stakeholders to provide financial insight and reporting support.

Profile

• CA or CPA qualified
• Big 4 or mid-tier professional services experience across Audit or Business Services is highly regarded.
• Proven experience in a Senior Accountant, Financial Accountant or similar role within a commercial environment.
• Ability to build effective working relationships across Finance and the broader business.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
