Job summary

Six Degrees Executive is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant based in Melbourne CBD with hybrid working (2 days in the office, 3 from home, moving to 4 days in the office).

You will own the integrity of financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax and treasury across the business, and play a hands-on role in upgrading processes as the company transitions to MYOB Acumatica.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification required.
• ASX-listed reporting experience is essential.
• Experience with MYOB Acumatica or similar ERP systems.
• Strong statutory reporting, tax and treasury knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, half-year and full-year financial reports including ASX reporting.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Manage ASX and ASIC compliance and continuous disclosure obligations.
• Oversee GST, FBT, PAYG and income tax compliance and lodgements.
• Coordinate external audit activities and treasury reporting.
• Support board and company secretarial requirements and fixed asset accounting.
• Assist with capex analysis and business cases.

About the Company

Our client is a small growing ASX-listed Australian food producer.

Under a visionary, hands-on CEO and a newly appointed CFO, the company is building a highly skilled leadership and finance team to support its next stage of growth. This is a business on a genuine transformation journey, and an exciting time to come on board.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in the Melbourne CBD with hybrid working (currently 2 days in the office and 3 from home, moving to 4 days in the office and 1 from home over time).

About the Role

Reporting to the CFO & Company Secretary, the Senior Financial Accountant will own the integrity of financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax and treasury across the business. This is a hands-on role where you will prepare reports yourself, working within a small, newly formed and supportive finance team.

The business is moving from an older version of MYOB to MYOB Acumatica, so you will play a key part in cleaning up processes, strengthening controls and building strong reporting foundations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, half-year and full-year financial reports, including all ASX reporting
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Manage ASX and ASIC compliance obligations and continuous disclosure requirements
• Manage GST, FBT, PAYG and income tax compliance and lodgements
• Complete regulatory forms and ABS surveys
• Manage treasury, cash flow forecasting, banking facilities and covenant reporting
• Manage leased, owned asset accounting, fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Coordinate external audit activities
• Support Board, Executive and company secretarial requirements
• Support inventory, reporting and fixed asset accounting
• Assist with capital expenditure analysis and business cases
• Help implement MYOB Acumatica and improve finance processes and controls

About you

• This would suit a Finance Manager level without direct reports, or a Senior Financial Accountant
• CA qualified or CPA qualified
• ASX-listed reporting experience is essential - Must Have
• Strong statutory reporting, technical accounting, tax and treasury knowledge
• Big 4 background highly regarded
• Retail, manufacturing, or FMCG experience is a bonus but not required (as there is inventory performance and reporting)
• Hands-on, with the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
• A team player who is committed to the role for the long term and will go the extra mile when deadlines call for it
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems
