Job summary

Charterhouse is partnering with a well-established public practice accounting firm in Melbourne’s Inner Suburbs seeking a high-performing Senior Accountant to own complex client work, mentor juniors, and collaborate with Partners on more challenging matters.

You’ll manage end-to-end client engagements, deliver compliant financial statements and tax returns, and drive advisory outcomes while aiming for a Supervisor or Manager role in a supportive, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• CA/CPA qualified with membership.
• Minimum 3 years’ Australian public practice experience.
• Strong technical expertise across multiple entity types and industries.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Ambition to progress into leadership.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements and tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and HNW individuals.
• Manage client assignments from planning through to completion.
• Advise on advanced tax matters including Div 7A, CGT (with small business concessions), trust streaming, and loss utilisation.
• Provide tailored tax planning strategies for SMEs and investment groups.
• Liaise directly with clients, ATO, and regulators.
• Review work of junior/intermediate staff and provide feedback.
• Maintain up-to-date tax knowledge while meeting productivity and billing KPIs.
