Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs and help them engage with learning. You will assist in classrooms and across the school, building trusting relationships to create a safe, welcoming environment where students feel valued and motivated to participate.

The role emphasizes calm communication, resilience, and collaborative work with teachers and specialists to promote positive outcomes for every pupil.

Qualifications

• Experience with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour in school or alternative settings.
• Calm and patient, even in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• Resilience, empathy, and genuine passion for supporting young people.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and around the school.
• Build positive relationships to help children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
• Use positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to help every pupil succeed.
• Celebrate small wins as they often lead to big breakthroughs.
