Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Security Commissioning Technician to join our Systems team in Australia. You will commission, configure, test, and optimise security systems across projects, collaborating with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure safe, on‑spec delivery and customer satisfaction.

Ideal candidates have 2–6 years in security tech, a trade qualification, NSW security licence, and strong IT/network skills to support integration and reporting. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• 2-6 years' experience as a Security Technician or similar role.
• Trade qualification in Security Systems or related field.
• Ability to obtain/hold NSW Security Provider Licence.
• Experience commissioning, configuring, and troubleshooting integrated security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of IT networks, server configuration, and system integration.
• Ability to interpret drawings and prepare technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, configure, and maintain security systems (Access Control, CCTV, Intercom).
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with guidance from senior staff.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and customers to meet specs and timelines.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and execution activities.
• Provide ongoing technical support during DLP and post‑installation.
• Mentor junior technicians and apprentices when needed.
• Identify and report workplace hazards and ensure SHEMS compliance.
