Bayside Health's Sandringham Hospital is seeking a motivated Orderly Security operative for permanent night shifts. The role combines patient transport duties with after-hours security responsibilities to support a safe, patient-focused environment.

You will work with the Support Services team, ensuring dignity, comfort and timely movement of patients and equipment, while responding to incidents and maintaining a visible security presence.

Sandringham Hospital
Sandringham Hospital is seeking a motivated and experiencedOrderly Security operative to join our Support Services team on a permanent night-shift basis.

This role is primarily an Orderly/Porter/Ancillary Assistant position with additional security responsibilities to support the after-hours security presence across the hospital. We are looking for a proactive individual who can provide operational supervision, support their colleagues, and contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and patient-focused environment.

The Role

As an integral member of the Support Services team, you will be responsible for facilitating the safe, timely, and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and materials throughout the hospital. You will support the delivery of patient-centred care by ensuring all transport activities are conducted with a focus on patient safety, dignity, comfort, and respect.

In addition to core orderly duties, the successful candidate will provide security support during night shifts, assisting with incident response, security patrols, access monitoring, and maintaining a visible security presence across the facility.

The role also includes responsibility for waste and linen management activities, ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with hospital policies, environmental sustainability principles, and occupational health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

About You

You are an experienced healthcare support worker or orderly with demonstrated leadership capabilities. You excel in a fast-paced environment, communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, and can confidently manage competing priorities during after-hours operations.

• Current Victorian Security Licence.
• Current Working with Children Check
• Experience in an orderly, porter, ancillary assistant, security, or healthcare support role.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Commitment to patient dignity, safety, and customer service.
• Ability to work permanent night shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
