Job summary

Snap Inc. in Sydney is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Detection and Response (D&R) team. You will build and deploy security systems, investigate suspicious activity, and respond to incidents across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.

In this role, you’ll partner with global teams, drive detection engineering and tooling improvements, and participate in red team exercises to strengthen our security posture. Office presence is expected 4+ days weekly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Min 3+ years of experience in incident response, detection engineering or related security disciplines.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go; knowledge of cloud security (ZeroTrust) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and maintain large-scale security systems across Snap Inc.'s ecosystem.
• Research, innovate and improve security capabilities through tooling.
• Develop automation to reduce manual alert triage.
• Conduct detection engineering to increase coverage across endpoints, infrastructure, networks and cloud environments.
• Investigate alerts and incidents end-to-end, including forensics and threat intelligence as needed.
• Lead incident response efforts and coordinate with multiple teams on security events.
• Participate in red team exercises and threat simulations to identify gaps.
