Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Security Engineer to join the Detection and Response (D&R) team in Sydney.

You will engineer and deploy large-scale security systems, investigate suspicious activity, and work with global teams to protect our digital infrastructure across production environments, corporate systems, and internal tools. The role emphasizes hands-on project work with detection engineering and incident response, rather than a traditional IR analyst path.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent years of experience in a related technical field.
• 3+ years of experience in incident response, detection engineering or related security disciplines.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Go.
• Experience with security tooling and cloud platforms (Kubernetes, AWS, GCP).
• Knowledge of digital forensics, malware analysis, and threat intelligence is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and maintain large-scale security systems across Snap Inc.'s ecosystem.
• Research, innovate and improve security capabilities with new tooling.
• Develop automation to reduce manual alert triage.
• Conduct detection engineering to increase coverage across endpoints, infrastructure, networks, and cloud environments.
• Investigate alerts and incidents end-to-end, including forensics and malware analysis as needed.
• Lead incident response efforts and coordinate across teams.
