Job summary

Kuehne+Nagel Australia is seeking a dedicated freight forwarding professional to join our Operational Care Team. You will manage exports from booking to vessel sailing, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and on-time performance for our customers.

You’ll coordinate with carriers, prepare shipping documentation, track shipments, and resolve issues quickly. This role suits those with 4+ years in sea logistics and a detail-oriented mindset, in a dynamic Australian environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in sea logistics export operations.
• Strong understanding of freight forwarding processes and export compliance.
• Hands-on experience with bills of lading and export filings.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication and stakeholder management.
• Commercial awareness with focus on cost and efficiency.
• Problem-solving mindset and judgement to elevate when needed.

Responsibilities

• Create export shipments in our systems with care to ensure accurate data at the start.
• Review shipping instructions against compliance, routing and rate requirements.
• Coordinate with carriers, partners and internal teams to keep transport on plan.
• Prepare bills of lading, VGM filings and invoices within required timelines.
• Track shipments and inform customers when departures occur and issues are addressed.
• Manage consolidation shipments and see them through to the end.
• Update costs and revenue and verify invoices.
• Resolve discrepancies, claims or disputes quickly and fairly.
• Monitor carrier and vendor performance to suggest improvements.

Somewhere right now, a customer's cargo is waiting to leave port. A cut-off is closing, a booking has just changed, and a shipping instruction doesn't quite match the paperwork. Behind every smooth departure is someone who spotted that detail, picked up the phone, and fixed it before it became a problem.

Your Day in the Operational Care Team

You’ll join a close-knit Operational Care team that looks after exports from the first booking to the moment the vessel sails, and beyond. You are the person customers, carriers and colleagues turn to when they need things done right and on time.

Your day might look like this:

• You start the story. You create export shipments in our systems with care, because accurate data at the start saves everyone trouble later.
• You check the plot. You review shipping instructions against compliance, routing and rate requirements, and catch what doesn't add up.
• You keep it moving. You coordinate with carriers, partners and internal teams to make sure transport runs as planned.
• You get the paperwork right. Bills of lading, VGM filings and invoices go out within the required timelines.
• You follow the journey. You track shipments, tell customers when they've departed, and deal with any deviation calmly and quickly.
• You bring it together. You manage consolidation shipments (master files) and see them through to the end.
• You keep the books honest. You update costs and revenue on time and verify invoices.
• You solve the twists. When discrepancies, claims or disputes come up, you resolve them quickly and fairly.
• You make the next chapter better. You watch how carriers and vendors perform and help us improve how we work.

The Person We're Looking For

You're the one who notices the typo before anyone else does. You stay steady when five things need attention at once. Here's what you bring:

• 4+ years of experience in sea logistics export operations or a similar role
• A strong understanding of freight forwarding processes and export compliance
• Hands‑on experience with shipping documentation, including bills of lading and export filings
• A sharp eye for detail and strong organisational skills
• The ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
• Clear communication and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness, with a focus on cost and operational efficiency
• A problem‑solving mindset, and the judgment to know when to elevate and how to resolve things
