Job summary

Loreto Normanhurst is seeking a practical Laboratory Assistant to support the Science faculty in preparing and running practical lessons, assessments and activities. This permanent part-time role commences Term 1, 2027 and requires strong laboratory knowledge and meticulous organisation.

The ideal candidate will hold a Science or Applied Science degree or diploma with chemistry knowledge, have solid laboratory safety practices, be proficient in Excel, and able to manage multiple tasks while

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Science or Applied Science with chemistry knowledge.
• Experience in a school laboratory and using scientific equipment acceptable.
• Sound knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling and storage.
• Ability to prepare risk assessments.
• Competent ICT skills, especially Excel.
• Strong planning, organisation, administration and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication, discretion and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support practical lessons, assessments and activities.
• Assist with essential administrative and logistical tasks for the Science faculty.
